The I-75 Yarn Crawl is this Weekend in Ohio and Kentucky!

I-75saveThe annual I-75 Yarn Crawl is happening this weekend, Aug 8-10 along the I-75 Corridor in Ohio and Northern Kentucky.

It works like this. First you purchase a Passport booklet for $5, which contains maps and coupons for all the Yarn Crawl shops. The first 250 passports sold will also come with a Yarn Crawl tote bag. During the crawl, you may go to as many or few shops as you like, but be sure to get your passport stamped at each shop you visit. Stamps earn you the right to participate in various raffles and more stamps = bigger and better raffles.  We have prepared an Interactive Map of the I-75 Yarn Crawl for your use with a little information about each shop. You can get started by ordering a passport through the I-75 Yarn Crawl Website. It sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun!

Two Favorite LYSs Close in Iowa

crazygirlWe are sad to report that two locations of Crazy Girl Yarn Shop in Iowa have closed: one in Cedar Falls, and one in Coralville. Owner Leslie Matheson, who had put her life savings into these yarn shops, reports that sales were down 50% last year. She attributes the drop in sales to rising internet sales.

Leslie plans to stay active in the knitting community. She vows to continue the popular Crazy Girl wine and knit night (details to follow), and she intends to start a local chapter of the The Knitting Guild of America. Leslie will keep in touch with the knit/crochet community through her Facebook Page.  We wish her the best!

The Pridie Collection – Boutique Yarn Shop is a quaint little place that is filled with eye candy everywhere you look. We teach classes in both knitting and crocheting for the beginner to advanced levels. We also do some charity knitting where our customers get involved making mittens for the kids in the Public Schools and also chemo hats for The Canadian Cancer Society. Everyday is a stitch in but we also host a Knitting Bee every Thursday afternoon and evening for those who like a scheduled day and time. Everyone has a great time, especially me.
