The New York Sheep and Wool Festival is a huge fiber festival north of New York City worth the travel. In addition to a marketplace of over 260 vendors, there will be an enormous selection of workshops that will appeal to fiber enthusiasts of all stripes: basket makers, dyers, felters, knitters, rug hookers and spinners. Also of interest to fiber lovers are the Wool, Mohair and Alpaca Fleece Show and Sale and a host of competitions, including Skein, Handmade Item, Designer Item, Fleece To Shawl, Drop Spindle, Spinning, Chop Stick Knitting, and Make it with Wool. Add to that cooking demonstrations, children’s activities, and sheep herding demos, and this festival promises fun for the whole family!
The New York Sheep and Wool Festival is being held October 19th and 20th at The Dutchess County Fairgrounds, 6550 Spring Brook Ave, Rhinebeck, NY. Hours are Saturday, 9AM-5PM, and Sunday, 10AM-5PM.
