The World Sheep and Fiber Arts Festival is a family-oriented fiber extravaganza with fiber classes, fiber vendors, dog and sheep shearing demonstrations, sheep and goat shows, and a whole host of games and competitions for kids.
Among the classes being offered are the following:
- Dyeing with Natural Dyes
- Dyeing Fibers
- Broomstick Lace dishcloth or Afghan Block
- Weave-it Box
- Felted Critter (Rabbit)
- Wet Felt Mittens
- Polymer clay Sheep Pin and Shawl Pin
- Beginning Spinning
- Warp and Weft Weaving on a Potholder Loom
- Weaving Sticks
- Operation Fiber Rescue
- Angora Rabbit Workshop
- Wonderful World of Wool
Ranch kids can participate in all kinds of contests and games, including the Lamb & Wool Queen Contest, the Lead Line Contest, the Mutton Busting (Rodeo Style Sheep Riding for Kids), a Sheep Calling Contest and a Sheep Knowledge Contest and in games such as Ear Tag Scramble, Fleece on a Spoon, and Chore Time.
Shows include Junior Goat and Lamb Show, Pen of Three Ewe Show and the Registered, Commercial, and Specialty Sheep and Goat Sale.
The World Sheep and Fiber Arts Festival will be Labor Day weekend, Aug. 31 – Sept. 1, 2013, in Bethel, MO.
