We’d like to give a shout-out today for Pale Moon Yarns, a new LYS in Andalusia, Alabama. The shop is owned by Louise Walker, who moved to Andalusia when her husband accepted a teaching job at the local middle school.
Louise quickly fell in love with the small Alabama town; her only peeve was the long trip she had to make to Mobile or Fairhope to get yarn. Aware of the uptick in interest in knitting fostered by the internet, Louise began to toy with idea of opening her own shop in Andalusia. That musing became a reality six weeks ago when Pale Moon opened its doors.
Louise aims to encourage new folks to take up needle crafts by offering basic classes such as the two-session Beginning Knitting, two-session Beginning Crochet, and a class in Pattern Reading. Pale Moon is also offering more advanced classes such as Wrist Warmers, and Making Socks on Double Pointed Needles, with more to come. In addition to classes, Pale Moon Yarn Shop hosts a couple of drop in Sit and Knit or Crochet sessions each week. Click here for the complete schedule.
As for yarns, Pale Moon offers standard selections as well as some interesting yarn choices from Skacel, Be Sweet, Scarlet Fleece and Blue Heron yarns. The shop is open Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. -5 p.m., Wednesdays from 10 a.m. -8 p.m. and on Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. -6 p.m.
Although Pale Moon has been under operation for several weeks, the official ribbon cutting and Grand Opening (with cupcakes and discounts) will be July 9 at 9:30 am.
The store is at 209 South Three Notch St, Andalusia, Alabama and can be found as Pale Moon Yarns on Facebook.
Good luck to Louise and Pale Moon Yarns!!!
