The Northeast Kingdom Farm to Yarn Tour this weekend is a free two day farm crawl of ten farms across Vermont’s NorthEast Kingdom! Just like a yarn crawl, the Farm to Yarn tour is self-guided, so you can visit as many or few of the farms as you like. Activities will include farm tours, spinning and knitting demos, and best of all, meeting the all the wonderful animals (and babies!).
The farms on the tour will appeal to all types of fiber lovers. There are four alpaca farms- Log Cabin Farm, Valley View Alpacas, Cedar Brook Alpacas & Aramaar Alpacas, Walden Mountain Alpaca Farm; three wool farms- Willowbend Farm, Maple View Icelandics, Buzz & Honey’s Fleecy Flock; and one cashmere goat farm- Tannery Farm Cashmeres & Boreas Farm Cashmere. Agape Hill Farm and Dillner Hillside Farm raise a mix of goats, sheep and rabbits.
As part of the tour, demonstrations and refreshments will be available at Mountain Fiber Folk in Montgomery. My husband, Mike, has made a really fabulous interactive map of The Northeast Kingdom Farm to Yarn Tour which gives additional information and links for each farm on the tour.
The tour is Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19, from 10am to 5pm. For additional info, see the tour website.
If you are unfortunate like myself, and live no where near Vermont, there are plenty of other fiber-related events happening this weekend. See our Yarn Events Map for something fun near you.
