The Fiber Arts Festival is a two day event at lovely Castle Farms in northern Michigan. The festival will host a fiber marketplace of over 50 vendors, interactive fiber arts demonstrations and live sheep and alpaca exhibits. The kids will enjoy demos of the working dogs that move sheep from field to field around the farm.
The venue may be worth the trip itself- the main building is a stone castle based on Renaissance castles of Normandy and is listed on National and State Historic Registries. It was built by Albert Loeb, president of Sears, Roebuck and Company in 1918 as model dairy farm where he could showcase the latest Sears and Roebuck farm equipment. Today sheep graze the land, and the castle is rented out for special functions like weddings.
The Fiber Arts Festival is Saturday, July 27, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sunday, July 28, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Castle Farms is located at 5052 M-66 North, Charlevoix, MI, and admission is $5. For more information see the Castle Farms website .
